Girl Scout Promise:

On my honor, I will try;

To serve God* and my country,

To help people at all times,

And to live by the Girl Scout Law.

*Individuals may substitute appropriate wording for their spiritual beliefs.

Girl Scout Law

I will do my best to be:

    honest and fair,
    friendly and helpful,
    considerate and caring,
    courageous and strong, and
responsible for what I say and do,

and to

    respect myself and others,
    respect authority,
    use resources wisely,
make the world a better place,
and be a sister to every Girl Scout.

Membership in Girl Scouts of the USA and affiliation with Girl Scouts of Monterey Bay is available to all girls, ages 5 through 17, and to adults 18 and older by paying the $10 annual membership dues and accepting the Girl Scout Promise and Law. Financial assistance is available.

Girls and adults may join and affiliate with a troop/group or special interest activity or may join as an individual who may participate in council sponsored activities such as sports, camps or other activities during the year.

How Do I Join?

Check Contact Us for the phone extension of the membership representative assigned to your geographic area and call 1(800) 624-4757 or the telephone number local to you area.

What are the membership categories?

Daisy Girl Scouts, 5 to 6 years old, are in kindergarten. They learn and have fun in small group activities that expand their world. They do not participate in fund-raising or product sales.

Brownie Girl Scouts, 6 to 8 years old, are in first through third Grades. They enjoy a program that appeals to their wide-ranging curiosity and desire to be helpful. They may earn Try-It badges for participation in special activities.

Junior Girl Scouts, 8 to 11 years old, are in third, fourth, fifth and sixth grades. They focus on developing friendships and teamwork in action-oriented projects and activities that include camping, science and technology, community service and sports. They may earn badges to indicate growth and progress.

Studio 2B is for girls 11 to 13, 13 to 15, and 15 to 17 years of age. In a new program, By Girls, For Girls, they have a menu of options from the Studio 2B Focus Collections that matches them with an advisor to follow their dream activities. They may also choose to mix and match current activities, including the interest projects and Gold and Silver Awards projects found in the following programs:

Cadette Girl Scouts, 11 to 14 years old, are in the sixth through ninth grades. They learn new skills, explore careers, help in their communities, develop their leadership potential, work with younger girls, travel and experience new challenges.

Senior Girl Scouts, 14 to 17 years old, are in the tenth through twelfth grades. They explore the arts, community action and careers. They may also work with adults and younger Girl Scouts in leadership roles, participate in national and international Girl Scout events, and pursue advanced awards such as the Girl Scout Gold Award. They tailor the Girl Scout program to their interests, needs and busy schedules of their group members for fun and projects.

Juliettes are girls 6 to 17 who register independently of any group and participate in selected Council activities such as soccer, summer programs, etc.

Adult volunteers ages 18 and older carry out the purpose and activities of Girl Scouting in partnership with girls. Girl Scouts of Monterey Bay is eager to provide an exciting and rewarding experience for its adult membership. Volunteer!
