Welcome! Realignment of the Monterey Bay and Tres Condados Girl Scout Councils has begun! In January, the combined Board of Directors of our two councils held a visioning retreat to explore our strengths, recognize our challenges and create a vision for a new era of Girl Scout excellence.
- We developed an official name for the new council - “Girl Scouts of California’s Central Coast;” official use of the new name will begin on the expected “Day One” of the new council, October 1, 2007.
- We created a vision for the new council - “Speaking with one voice - the language of girls - we are committed to leadership development by growing a council that values service to community, diversity, tradition and innovation.”
- Our two councils will become one with the capacity and scope to provide a powerful Girl Scout experience to the 200,000 girls living on the Central Coast.
We are excited about building a strong future of cooperation and innovation. Through the Realignment Newsletter we’ll keep you informed of our process of “reinvention.” We want to begin a conversation about how we can create a council that provides the best programs and resources to girls and volunteers built on the strong foundations of both councils.
In this, our first issue, we have highlighted some of the outstanding programs and aspects of each council that will be united to serve our girls and our volunteers in new and exciting ways. Please read on for more information about the strengths and abilities we are bringing together

Here are just two of the great programs GSOMB and GSTC offer. We’re learning much from each other and applying these great ideas to make the experiences of our girl and volunteer members even better!
Artemis/Alta Leadership Camp - GSOMB
Every summer campers ages 10-17 gather for the Artemis Resident Camp under the leadership of 20 young women (aged 14-17) who are the “peer leaders” for the camp. The peer leaders design
the camp over a 9 month period as they learn the 11 leadership compencies that are taught to top executives.
Cowgirl Up Camp - GSTC
Located on 36 acres near Ojai, GSTC’s Camp Arnaz is available year-round for GSTC Girl Scouts. In addition, GSTC hosts a series of week-long summer day camps for girls entering 1st through 6th grade. Cowgirl Up Camp offers fun, friendship, horse riding, water park trips, crafts and archery in a safe environment. Girls in 7th through 12th grade can participate in camp as Program Aides. A limited number of sleepover camps will be offered for girls entering 4th - 12th grade. Come on down y’all!
Stay Tuned!
